Asheville School's Humanities Program Ties It All Together
John Gregory, Humanities Chair at Asheville School (Asheville, NC) spoke with us about the development of Asheville's integrated humanities program and what it means to students.
To some extent Asheville has achieved an academic holy grail- a fully planned and reasoned integrated humanities program bringing together the history, literature, art, music, architecture, and philosophy of a period.
Asheville supports the program with purposeful scheduling allowing time for faculty and students to effectively grapple with and work through topics and their connections. Students enjoy having multiple teachers in the classroom, the additional writing, and making cross disciplinary connections every day. The program is funded through a series of grants.
