Commencement Ceremonies Drawing Near

This is the time of year where campuses around the county will conclude the school year with one final ceremony: Commencement.

Commencement is the culmination of all the hard work and dedication put in to celebrate your time spent at school. It is also an emotional time for both parents and students. For parents, it’s the realization of a 17 or 18 year dream come true – a very proud moment.

For those graduating, emotions run wild in those finals moments. It’s closing the book on another chapter of life. It’s the excitement of what lies ahead. And it’s looking back at all the great memories and friends gained.

Boarding schools have such great history and tradition. With that said, Commencement ceremonies are filled with incredible pomp and circumstance. What’s amazing is how serious students take this ceremony.

At Culver Academies, we’ve been fortunate in the last 30 years. We have only had one rain out. When the ceremony was moved indoors, students refused to go indoors because they hold so dear to the outdoor tradition that they want to experience the ceremony just as all those who have come before them. Walking through the Gate (for the boys) and under the Arch (for the girls) completes their journey here as they enter a next phase in life.

Having participated in two Commencements here at Culver, so far, the emotion runs high on the faculty side, too. The boarding school faculty is a unique one – one that pours out an incredible amount of love for your children year after year. Watching faculty, staff and coaches relish in the fruits of their labor and love during Commencement is unforgettable.

Bring your tissues…you’ll need ‘em.

Congratulations graduates! Your world awaits.
