Student Life Description of Department/Program: Few students can say their school is truly a "global village." But at Fountain Valley, you're likely to end up in a class with a student from Germany, another from Japan, someone who grew up on a ranch, and another from a metropolitan area. FVS students come from the West Coast, East Coast, Midwest, from all over the world, and from our own backyard they come from different family backgrounds and beliefs, but all believe in the value of an outstanding educaiton. You'll learn about many cultures not just from textbooks, but by talking to friends about their country's current events, arts, food and traditions. After the end of sports practices and games on Friday, the campus takes on a different pace. Weekends are the time for relaxation and taking advantage of campus resources and the host of opportunities in Colorado Springs, Denver and surrounding mountain regions. The area's temperate weather and nearly 300 sunny days a year allow students and faculty to plan a variety of outdoor activities. Students have the opportunity to take part in a variety of weekend activities. Trips downhill skiing or snowboarding to major Colorado ski areas are offered for most weekends during the winter. On-campus activities include interscholastic athletic contests, dances, Stupid and Cupid weekends, flims, and more. Transporation is provided to the mall, movies or downtown Colorado Springs on a regular basis. The Weekend Activities Coordinator along with Proctors and the Weekend Duty Team coordinate to provide entertaining, interactive and educational activities for students.Student Life Director Name: Jeremy LaCasse Email: [email protected] Fax: 719-391-9039 Phone: 719-391-5233 Title: Dean of Students Student Statistics Percentage of first year students who return for a second year: 90% Racial/Ethnic Diversity % of American Indian or Alaskan Native: 1.96 % of Asian or Pacific Islander: 14.22 % of Black (non-Hispanic): 2.94 % of Race/ethnicity unreported/unknown: % of Total International (non-resident alien): 14 % of White (non-Hispanic): 77.94 % of Hispanic: 2.94 Extra-Curricular Offerings Extra-Curricular Actvities
