History Of School

History of the school - Inspired by the life of John Wolter, Ed.D., Oliverian was founded in 2004 by his son, Jay Wolter. Oliverian offers a college preparatory curriculum where students will be challenged in unique ways that will engage and inspire them. Young people will have the opportunity to explore ideas with a dedicated and talented faculty, and then put those ideas into practice as they move through projects of ever increasing complexity. Where else can a student prepare for college as they deal with critical issues of adolescence, while studying the history of baseball or designing a maple sugar shack.

School Environment Our mission is to educate students who, despite experiencing difficulties, want to succeed in a college preparatory setting. Here students are inspired and supported as they prepare to succeed in a complex, intricate, and ever-changing world. We promote and support a zest for living by encouraging self-exploration, spirituality, character formation and integrity, as our students learn to balance their individual needs with those of the community. At The Oliverian School we try to define our students by who they are, rather than by who they are not. Oliverian students come from all over the country and from a variety of different circumstances and traditions. The school aims to serve students who are academically capable of serious work and aspire to a college education, but who are not succeeding or have not found success in traditionally structured schools.
