Wasatch Academy Equestrian Program Relocates to Amazing New ArenaEquestrian fans have a reason to be very excited. In late 2009, construction was completed on the Sanpitch Recreation and Heritage Center. The Center, set on a 100-acre site, houses a 1.2 acre, 50,000-square-foot roofed arena, capable of hosting community-wide equestrian events, rodeos, horse and car shows, large concerts, trade shows, and sporting events. In 2010, the Center will become the new home for Wasatch Academy’s Equestrian and Equine Science programs.
This new Center is a huge addition to our already burgeoning Equestrian Program. The Center is located within five minutes of the campus, which gives our students an extra hour to ride every afternoon for their equine classes year round. The Center will allow the students to board their horses (stall or pasture) at a competition-rated facility with wash bays, indoor and outdoor riding arenas, and stadium seating for our students to perform before parents, students, and the community.
Projected additions for the larger site include a complex for arena-related facilities, such as a horse barn, race track, and RV park; a cowboy museum; a living history farm; a replica pioneer village; a community swimming pool; and a two-mile hiking trail.
The Equestrian Center is one of three major additions to the Wasatch Academy campus in the 2009-2010 year. Our Center for Evolving Technologies, the renovation of our Performing Arts facility, and the Equestrian Center reinforce why Wasatch Academy continues to be one of the premier college preparatory schools in the world.
